CJSC operate from Porth Eirias which is owned by Conwy County Borough Council. Therefore, members are required to register their craft(s) and obtain appropriate launch permits. Generally this can be done at the slipway from the ever helpful warden Martin, but he will require proof of insurance. Please note that proof of membership will not be sufficient. For more details see below.
CJSC Joining Details
The Membership Application Form may be obtained from the Club Secretary by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or at the site on club days from the CJSC duty tractor driver or any committee member present. Whilst the RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency Course Certificate is not mandatory at Porth Eirias, CJSC are a recognized RYA training centre for this course. Please email email@example.com for further details.
A new membership is issued with the proviso that it does not become a “Full” membership until 6 weeks after the Application is received. Until such time it will be known as a “Provisional” Membership and may be revoked following an Extra Ordinary Committee meeting at any time within the 6 weeks.
A Provisional member may still apply to Conwy Council for an Annual Permit.
All committee members are experienced Jetskiers and we believe that a Jetski club should be run by the people who participate in the sport.
All powered craft owners are required to register their vessel(s) prior to use of Conwy County Borough Council slipways. The annual charge for each registration for 2021 is £25.00
Owners who have not already registered with Conwy CBC will be required to register their PWC(s) at the Colwyn Jetski Club slipway prior to launching, again at a cost £25.00 for the 2021 season.
The scheme offers considerable advantage to any Conwy Registered Launchers because Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Anglesey Councils will all accept the Conwy Registration. This means if you decide to go to Anglesey for the day instead of Conwy then you will not be required to register again as in previous years; all you will have to pay is their Day Launch fee.
As of 1st April 2020, any vessel transiting through the Caernarfon Harbour Limits, must display either an Anglesey, Gwynedd or YHCHT (Caernarfon Harbour Trust) sticker.
The Harbour Limits are defined as Menai Suspension Bridge to Caernarfon Bay.
Naturally this impacts on members wishing to visit Caernarfon/Porthdinllaen/Llanddwyn or wanting to loop Anglesey.
Any vessel not displaying the appropriate registration sticker may be asked to leave the area by the Harbour Patrol.
However, the Harbour Master has agreed that any Colwyn Jetski Club member who produces a valid Membership Card and proof of insurance, will be entitled to a 50% on registration. Normal cost is £35 so £17.50 for members.
An Annual Conwy CBC PWC Launch Permit for 2020 costs are £135.00. However, members of Colwyn Jetski Club may purchase one at a discounted price. Annual Launch Permits are only available from the Harbour Office, The Quay, Conwy, LL32 8BB. Owners must provide proof of insurance and, if applicable, proof of Colwyn Jetski Club membership.
If no Annual Launch Permit has been obtained from Conwy CBC, a Day Launch Permit must be purchased at the slipway at a cost £20.00 for the 2020 season prior to launching. Each subsequent visit will require a further Day Launch Permit.
