We find ourselves in a totally unique position in that CJSC has seven RYA PWC Trainers that we can call on to give the RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency Course.
To this we can add a great deal of the “local” knowledge which could be of a huge benefit if you launch regularly at Colwyn Bay.
Whilst it is a serious subject we will attempt to complete it in a fun way and the feedback received when we completed the courses years ago was that it was a fun and informative Day.
Our Personal Watercraft course will teach you how to get the best from your ski. Our course is designed for first time and experienced riders alike. Increasingly the RYA certificate is required for launching in UK harbours, but is also needed if you want to use your PWC abroad.
We are unable to hire skis, so we will be restricted to everyone using their own skis. In order to try to keep the course moving along we will only accept bookings of one ski to one person and to a maximum of six people. At this time we will not be teaching two people one ski, with experience we have found this holds up the others on the course.
The RYA course is £170 for the full day including lunch and refreshments, there is a discount for members of CJSC to £130. We also offer a combined membership and RYA course for new members (subject to availability). Please contact Andy directly chairman@cjsc.co.uk for details and prices if you wish to benefit from this combined offer.
The CJSC tractor will be available to assist during launch and recovery, the RYA course covers this area so the tractor will only be assisting. We will not be launching you.
The RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency Course will be held on a Saturday (please see dates below) unless there is a group of six who would prefer a day in the week and then we will try our best to see what we can do.
We do not train on Sundays or Bank Holidays as these are reserved for CJSC club days.
We will do our best to complete the course on the day specified, but if weather conditions dictate otherwise we will try to contact you before you have to set out and let you know when we can reschedule. I’m sure you appreciate we are dictated to a little by the sea conditions and the area we are specified to complete the RYA Training in. So no, we can’t use the Beacons.
